Elusive Crappie

I often hear of anglers targeting crappie but to me they might as well be ninjas for most of the year.
I couldn't tell you where to start to look for the little tasty fellas.
That is until the water warms up in the spring then I look for a fallen tree or some tall grass weeds and it's like a barrel of fish. :upthumb:

Here is a couple of articles I found but I am not sure if they are accurate.
If you have any tricks or tactics that work for various times of the year I would be very grateful if you could share your secrets of finding the Elusive Crappie. :boat:
